The 2019 event will be held in Hull on the weekend of 11th October.  Association Secretary, John Ross, visited the city in early 2019 to arrange accommodation and confirmed that attendees will stay at The Royal Hotel Hull on Ferensway.

The hotel is close the Hull railway station, located centrally and within easy reach of the city centre.  B&B accomodation is as per usual for the Friday & Saturday departing on the Sunday morning. The Saturday evening Gala Dinner will also be held in the hotel. The costs are as below and include breakfast.

what events are being planned?

Meet and Greet | Friday Evening
Attendees start arriving Friday afternoon for an informal meet-and-greet.

The AGM | Saturday Morning
After breakfast, the Annual General Meeting will be held on the Saturday morning at around 11:00hrs with a gala dinner the same evening. The AGM and the association are particularly happy to see newer attendees take part.  The meeting discusses the following year’s reunion and the current state of the association.   We pride ourselves in being relatively informal so a healthy debate is normal.

Events | Saturday Afternoon
Once the AGM is concluded attendees gather at around midday for a visit to the local area. If you wish us to book any of the following venues please email reunion@hmsnaid.co.uk. A separate deposit may be required.

Hull has a variety of sea fairing themed attractions ranging from The Deep aquariam to the Maritime Museum. There are loads of bars and restaurants as well as a micro gin distillery and brewery (See below). There is also a pub called The Minerva which is on the way to and from The Deep.

Hotham’s Gin School in the gorgeous setting of Hepworth’s Arcade, in Hull’s Old Town, offers master-classes in one of the most popular drinks of the moment. The school and micro distillery opened in summer 2018 and gives you the chance to create your very own personalised blend, from a vast array of botanicals and spices and if you don’t like gin, you can come along and make a vodka instead.

It costs £125 to book your place at a gin still, where you’ll receive a master-class in blending your own bottle of gin. An extra £25 allows you to bring a friend along with you. You’ll be greeted with one of Hotham’s own G&Ts, enjoy a tasting lesson and, finally, get to cut, name, bottle and label your gin before taking it home.

Atom Beers to the east of Hull city centre, brewing has been honed to an exact science, which the team is very happy to demonstrate to visitors. Weekly tours run for groups of six or more, at £12 per person. Tours last two hours and include the chance to learn about the brewing process, an invitation to eat some malt, smell some hops and taste the beer.

Gala Dinner | Saturday Evening
This year the dinner is hosted in the same hotel.  Meet in the bar at 19:00hrs. Dress code is smart, so suit, jacket, trousers and tie.

Farewell | Sunday Morning
After breakfast attendees set off homeward bound.  There is no formal gathering on Sunday but many of us have shared journeys home so gather before heading towards the airport, train or coach station; or our cars.
