The 2021 event was held in Cardiff on the weekend of 8th October.  Association Secretary, John Ross, visited the city in early 2020 and again earlier this year to confirm the event would be held at The Angel Hotel on Castle Street.

The hotel is close to The Principality Stadium, located centrally and within easy reach of the city centre.  B&B accommodation was as per usual for the Friday & Saturday departing on the Sunday morning. The Saturday evening gala dinner was also be held in the hotel. Dress code for dinner was jacket and tie.

Meet-and-Greet | Friday Evening

Attendees start arriving Friday afternoon for an informal meet-and-greet.  This year a few of the group cycled into Cardiff from Permbrokeshire to raise funds for the Royal British Legion.  If you’d like to support them please visit the Just Giving page.

The AGM | Saturday Morning
At 11:00hrs we hold our AGM in the hotel’s conservatory. Main topic will be where to hold next year’s reunion.

Events | Saturday Afternoon
Once the AGM is concluded attendees are free to visit the local area. Maps were available in the hotel.

Gala Dinner | Saturday Evening
This year the dinner was hosted in the same hotel at 19:30hrs.  Attendees met in the bar at 19:00hrs. Dress code was smart, so suit, jacket, trousers and tie.

Farewell | Sunday Morning
After breakfast attendees set off homeward bound.  There is no formal gathering on Sunday but many of us have shared journeys home so gathered before heading towards the airport, train or coach station; or our cars.

COVID-19 Coronavirus

In September 2020 we took the decision to cancel the that year’s event due to the restriction put in place by the Welsh government effectively ruling out social gatherings of six people or more.  Those that were planning to attend the 2020 event could decide to have their balance returned or retained by the association. All deposits were retained for the 2021 event.

Reunion Ride to Cardiff - Raising funds for the Royal British Legion
On the Thursday before the reunion (7th October) a few of the lads cycled 125-miles from Saundersfoot, Pembrokeshire to Cardiff to raise funds for the Royal British Legion, in memory of our former shipmate John D'Albert, who was cared for at the RBL's Galanos House Care Home during his final years living with dementia.  You can read more about John’s story here.

The riders took two days to reach Cardiff and rendezvous with the Association’s annual reunion.

Please help us support The Royal British Legion and the wonderful care they provide for those with dementia.
